One of my friends posted this on Facebook and I was compelled to share after I saw and read it. Then afterwards, I got to thinking…
In math, 1+1 is always going to be 2 and no one argues. I love the definitive quality of it… Hence, this is the reason why I have a tainted view of history. It’ll “always” belong to the victors or rather, who controls the narrative of a culture. We like those “grand heroic” characters but in reality, it’s the relatively unknown minorities (ethnic, socio, and/or economic) who truly changes things.
Anyways, the caption that I read with the photo above reads below…
On revisionist history… “In the case of e-mail, very much like TV, it wasn’t done at MIT. It wasn’t done at the the military. It wasn’t done at a big institution. It was done in Newark, NJ, one of the poorest cities in the United States. It was done by a dark skinned immigrant kid, 14 yrs old. So the narrative there is what changes and it shocks “certain people” who want to control the narrative; that innovation can only take place under their bastions.” - V.A. Shiva Ayyadurai (the REAL inventor of E-Mail 8/30/1982)
There’s comfort in knowing the world doesn’t revolve around me. I wouldn’t be able to keep things in orbit.
—Just came up with this tonight… So yes, I guess… me.
