Here’s the performance I did for Guitar Center’s Singer/Songwriter finalist performance at The Hotel Cafe earlier this month. Enjoy.
Meet The Producers
Hello y’all!!!!
I hope all of you are doing well wherever you are in the world at this very moment. As for me, I’m currently in Southern California (LA/San Diego) doing my usual rounds of co-writing, meetings, spending time with friends/family, and a few shows. After my stint with Guitar Center’s Singer/Songwriter competition and being named one of the top 10 finalist, (which by the way, was a lot of fun and it was an experience that I’m truly grateful for) …I’ve been working hard putting schedules and logistics together for this album so we can finally make this happen! That in itself have been a lot of work and presented a major brainteaser. Nevertheless, this is all fun for me! I’m truly excited and I hope all of y’all are too.
To make a great album, understandably, one would need an overall vision, great songs, and talented musicians. But in order for all those elements to cohesively work together, you would have to pick a gifted producer …and in my case, producers.
So ladies and gentlemen…
Meet the producers…
DAVID RYAN HARRIS
Need I say more?! …Yes, David, or “DRH” as many would affectionately call him. First of all, if you need an introduction and have no clue who he is, here’s his Wikipedia page link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Ryan_Harris - I’m not quite sure how accurate it is but you’ll get the gist of what he’s done within his remarkable career so far.
I’ve had the privilege to work with David for the first time almost 2 years ago. It was May of 2011 when we co-wrote the song “Feels Like Home” and I released my version on iTunes back in June 2012. I’ve been a fan of his work years prior to actually meeting/working with him. I even remember going to a few of his shows at The Hotel Café (Los Angeles) when he was on break from tour (with John Mayer at the time). So as you can imagine, I felt tremendously honored when I found myself in the same room creating music with him…and later on sharing the stage on a few events/showcases in LA.
Fast-forward, it was months ago that David and I started discussing production involvement for my project. We’ve had a few conversations on how I/we wanted the songs to sound like and etc. I truly feel that he understands my musicality and songwriting. He’s going to be the “new” element to my produced sound. I’m truly excited for this and I cannot wait.
We’re slated to track our songs this June.
P.S. He just produced India.Arie and Natasha Bedingfield – no. big. deal.
JESSE BARRERA
This decision probably didn’t come as a surprise for many of you. If you have followed my career for some time, you’d know that Jesse and I worked before and have been good friends for years now. He produced my “As of Now – EP” in 2010 as well as my last single “Feels Like Home” back in June 2012. I’ve also worked with Jesse for his other productions (his own projects and for his clients) – doing background vocals, vocal arrangements, and songwriting.
Jesse started off as a member of the San Diego-based rock/alternative band “My American Heart” back when he was a teenager. After being a rockstar traveling all over the world, he decided to spend the years shortly-after focusing on his solo artistry, refining his skills as a producer, and building his studio. He has worked with many independent artists producing/mixing/mastering records for artists such as: Jeremy Passion, Daniela Andrade, AJ Rafael, Mitchell Grey, Michael Carreon, Nessa Rica, and Tori Kelly – to name a few from a rapidly-growing list.
Not only is this guy immensely talented and hardworking, Jesse is like family. So I’m in San Diego right now and I’m about to track my songs with him until the end of this month (March).

So there’s the update everybody!
Who’s excited?!?!?!?!?!?!?
Well, I am! (insert 100,000,000 exclamation points here)
Lots of love, blessings, and more soon!

My friend Jomar (who was gracious enough to be my buddy for the night alongside Ashley, his fiance) - this was his Instagram post from last weekend’s awesomeness.
I mean…
Who would’ve thought I’d be in some LIVING ROOM (well, Dave Hodges’ living room) singing along side 2 of my musical heroes? I wouldn’t have guessed it. And I don’t care (still don’t) that David and India know that I super fangirl when they’re around. I allow myself to be a nerd/geek when it comes to these things. All my “cool” factor (if any) goes out the window.
DRH was singing harmonies when I sang “Skyline.” And India sang a song nobody has heard before and it was wonderful. She’s been in the studio with David for her upcoming album. It was a “musical high” for the lack of a better term.
Well….
I’m sharing this not to boast or brag. I’m sharing because I genuinely thought the likelihood of something like this to happen in my life was pretty darn LOW. If you base life on sheer statistics, you’d probably agree with my assumption.
I’m sharing because I know all of you out there are dreaming big things or maybe dreaming similar dreams to mine. Keep in mind that I wasn’t this “hot shot” artist who had a ton of connections starting off. I didn’t have a “mama’ger,” “dada’ger,” agents, managers, MONEY, or even a location conducive to this kind of career and still don’t (TEXAS!). I wasn’t born in the music industry so I had to learn from scratch at a ripe age of 17. My road hasn’t been easy.
Where I’ve been and where I am now is because of the culmination of hard work, faith, and good ol’ fans/friends/family believing in my craft. It makes me cry just thinking about it. There were plenty times that I just wanted to live a quiet life and leave this music grind behind. I’m still open to the idea.
But meeting India and her walking across the room just to talk to me - then telling me that she’s a fan of my work …and David - just being this supporter of my music (he introduced me to India) … Shows me… Well, more like… slaps me on the face - wakes me up from my slump and tells me that I’m at least doing something right.
I guess all-in-all, I’m just thankful. You should be too. Not because of what I had accomplished but because of what greater accomplishments we all have yet to achieve.
Dream big. Stay humble.
Love y’all,
mp
Hey Tumblr Fambam!
We now have reached 200 backers for this project. Now let’s get this to the finish line!
A great way to get this rollin’ even faster is to keep posting on Twitter, Facebook, blogs, and etc. I know some people are waiting last minute but it would be nice if we can get this to 100% soon. If this campaign won’t reach the goal, I’d have to postpone this project indefinitely. ((insert sad face)) And we proobably don’t want that to happen.
So many of you have been helping me out of the awesomeness of your heart and I thank you soooo much! They don’t go unoticed and I truly appreciate every single one of you! Almost There! Please help me get rid of “Almost”! :) (see what I did there??? ;))

67%!!
Let’s keep this going! We’re halfway through the campaign and still needing about $3,250+ to reach the goal! Help me make this happen. It’s been a dream of mine to record a FULL-LENGTH and I haven’t officially released one (although, I released a “full-length” full of demos, which I don’t really count AND it was before I released anything on iTunes).
Many of you have shown support and love already and I’m truly blessed. Thank you.
Let’s get this to 100% soon!

This was recorded sometime in August 2012. I just met up with a producer friend, Glenn Clancy, late summer (2012) and just wanted to record this old song of mine for fun. I didn’t have particular plans for the recording but I knew I wanted to give it away at some point. I figured this would be the best time to do it because it’s the end of 2012 and we’re all gearing up for 2013 to be a successful one. With everything that went on with the world this past year, sometimes I (or we) can’t help but feel depressed, sad, and frustrated. This song has “served” me through times when life just didn’t make sense. So I want to re-share this song again (for those of you who already knew this song before) and hopefully, no pun intended, bring a tiny light in your lives. Embrace hope.
This song is specifically dedicated to all the victims and family who were affected by Sandy hurricane, Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, and all victims of gun violence.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Some of you might’ve gotten this song/track too ‘cause y’all pledged for his album a year or so ago. All his “backers” got this song on Christmas day.
Every time I listen to his music, he mentors to me lyrically, melodically, vocally, and the simplicity (with his DRH twists).
Know that this is guy that can sing licks left and right, vocal range is ridic, slays the guitar with greats (like John Mayer), writes and performs his songs that can make a whole room shut up. But what’s fantastic is that he’s passed the stage of “I can prove to you that I have musical skills” - he’s in the “I just want to make great music” stage…Music that communicates and tell stories - and the skills just support that.
Boss.
This song is so good. I’m not going to post the audio on tumblr ‘cause 1) he probably doesn’t want that and 2) I respect it/him that much.
Y’all just gotta wait til it comes out.

Almost 30% folks. :)
If you haven’t checked it out, please do. I’m looking forward to creating this album. And even if you can’t pledge towards this, just reblog, FB, Twitter, and etc… Any help to spread the word about this, I would be truly grateful.

I got featured on Knocksteady. They met up with me last week to record a little video for them. I sang a familiar/original tune - this time at Venice Beach while the sun was setting. So chill. :)
Here is Knocksteady’s post: http://bit.ly/10i4fpY
…and yes, I sang “Skyline.”

GO
(polinar)
you have become what i have feared to discover
and I was the one who always tried to recover
all the while I thought I understood
blinded my eyes pretending everything was good
don’t want to wait
i don’t want to feel the rain on my face
where the wind blows is where I’ll go
I want to let you go
got to be brave
step out behind the lines where i’m trapped in my ways
where the wind blows is where I’ll go
I want to let you go
